Universes

A universe holds one world: its characters, events, eras, factions, locations, objects and articles, all linked to each other. Everything in OnlyLore belongs to a universe, so a page of lore stays empty until one is chosen.

Who owns a universe

A universe is owned by an org, the same org that owns your work in GreenMind's other apps. Every GreenMind account comes with a default org of its own, and a universe goes there unless you choose another org to work in from the org switcher in the header. Orgs, their admins and their teams are explained in the publishing console's docs, and managed on your GreenMind account, whose org pages are described in Your orgs.

OnlyLore lists the universes of the org you are working in. Switching to another org shows that org's universes instead. Opening a link to a universe in another org you can reach switches you to that org.

Whoever makes a universe is its first owner, and stays one. The org's admins can reach every universe the org owns.

Making a universe

Choose New universe from the panel at the top of the sidebar, from the universe switcher in the header, or from the command palette. Give it:

  • a name, which you can change later;
  • a key, which is used in links and is fixed once the universe is made. It is filled in from the name, and keys are shared by everybody using OnlyLore, so a key already taken is refused and you pick another;
  • a description, if you like.

A free account can make one universe. Supporters of GreenMind on Patreon can make as many as they like: become one, or connect the Patreon account you already support with, from your GreenMind account. Universes you were invited to do not count towards the limit.

Switching universes

The universe switcher in the header, and the selector at the top of the sidebar, list the universes you can reach in the org you are working in, with how many characters, events, eras and factions each holds. Choosing one opens its lore. OnlyLore remembers the last one you opened.

Settings

A universe's settings have two tabs:

  • General: its name, key and description, and what is in it. Only an owner can rename a universe or change its description.
  • People: who can reach it, and inviting more. See People and roles.
