Family tree

Family Tree draws the universe's parent graph: every character with a parent link, and the lines between parents and children, laid out by year, with the decades marked down the side. It is built only from the parents recorded on each character (see Characters), so it always agrees with them.

Moving around

Drag to pan, scroll to zoom, and double-click to put the view back. Choosing a person's box opens their page.

  • The whole tree shows by default. Choosing one person instead shows their branch: a number of generations up and down from them, three to begin with. View this branch of the family tree on a character's page opens it centred on them.
  • Highlight people marks the people you pick, so they are easy to find in a large tree.
  • Compact, Normal and Spacious set how many pixels one year is worth, which decides whether a crowded century is legible.

Somebody with no recorded birth year is placed by their relatives, so their box has somewhere to go, and the box has a dashed border. The page says how many are placed that way: their position is an estimate, not a date.

Saving it

SVG and PNG save the tree as an image, and PDF as a document, always the whole of what is chosen rather than only the part in view. See Exports.
