Timeline and Year Explorer

Two views put the whole universe's history in front of you, both built from the years recorded on its entries. An entry with no year is left out of both rather than guessed at.

Timeline

Timeline draws eras, factions, events and characters' lifespans on one axis of years. Scroll to move along it, and pinch or hold ctrl and use the wheel to zoom, or use the zoom buttons. Choosing anything on it opens that entry. SVG saves the timeline as an image.

An era or a faction marked ongoing runs to the end of the recorded timeline.

Year Explorer

Year Explorer answers "what was going on then?". Type a year (1982), a decade (1970s) or a span (1970-1995), and it lists every era, event, faction and life whose span touches it, each saying how it sits against what you chose: it begins there, ends there, falls entirely within it, or spans across it.

From there, Previous window and Next window move along by the same length of time, and Widen takes in more of it. The page also says how many dated entries fall outside the window, and how many have no year at all and cannot be placed either way.

Opened with nothing typed, it shows the universe's history by decade, from its first recorded year to its last, with how many entries touch each.
